Haleakala National Park stretches all the way from summit of Haleakala (at 10,023 feet), to the coastal area close to Hana on the southeastern base of the mountain. There’s no road to connect the two separate sections of the Haleakala National Park, but if you head to Kahului you can access them both.

There isn’t any public transport running either to the park, or inside the park.

Driver Warning for Visitors to Haleakala National Park

Make sure that you have plenty of gas before entering the park, because once you’re in there you won’t find any gas stations. The final place available for gas before entering the park on the way to the summit area is in Pukalani, and if you’re heading towards the Kipahulu area you can get gas along the Hana Highway in the town of Pa’ia.
