Haleakala National Park Operating Hours & Seasons

Haleakala National Park is open all year round, 7 days per week for 24 hours per day, just so long as the weather is agreeable. Severe weather is the only event which does close the park from time to time.

  • Haleakala Visitor Center is at 9,740 ft, and this center is open from 5am until 3pm.
  • Kipahulu Visitor Center is at sea level, and opens its doors between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
The Visitors Centers are open every day for their individual opening hours, all year round subject to the availability of staff.
It doesn’t matter what season of the year you visit Haleakala National Park, you’ve got to be prepared for unpredictable weather. The unpredictability of the weather is the only predictable thing about it. Prepare for it to be hot, to be dry, to be cold, to be wet in all parts of the park, at all times of the year.

Looks like you need to be prepared for it being mighty windy too.

You see, sometimes it’s closed because of the weather. Not the best of days to visit Haleakala National Park by the looks of it.
