Mesa Verde National Park Fees & Reservations

The amount you pay to visit Mesa Verde National Park depends on when you choose to make the trip.

Private Vehicles – including passengers for a full seven day pass;

  • Beg January – early March – FREE
  • Early March – late May – $10
  • Late May – early Sept – $15
  • Early Sept – late Dec – $10

Individual Entrance Fees – this is for each person entering the park by motorcycle, bicycle or as an individual on a non-commercial bus tour;

  • Beg January – early March – FREE
  • Early March – late May – $5 per person
  • Late May – early Sept – $8 per person
  • Early Sept – late Dec – $5 per person

Mesa Verde National Park Annual Pass – if you are lucky enough to be able to visit Mesa Verde National Park numerous times throughout the year, then an annual pass will cost you $30 and is valid for a full year from the date of purchase.

Mesa Verde National Park Tour Tickets

Your entrance fee will mean that you can visit the majority of Mesa Verde National Park on your own, but if you want to explore some of the cliff dwellings you’ll have to join a ranger guided tour.

Cliff Palace, Long House and Balcony House tour tickets are $3 per person and can be purchased from;

  • Far View Visitor Center
  • Morefield Ranger Station
  • Colorado Welcome Center, Cortez
  • Chapin Mesa Archeological Museum
Cliff Palace Twilight Tour tickets cost $10 and are available at the Far View Visitor Center only.
Mesa Verde National Park Guided Hikes
Mesa Verde National Park has some unique and compelling cliff dwellings, but there are also some pretty awesome hikes. Of course, you are welcome to explore the miles of hiking trails alone, but if you want to get a real insight into this fantastic place you could always join one of the fascinating back country hiking trips.
  • Mug House Tour – this 3 mile hike will take a couple of hours and is available between the end of May and early in September on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from 10am, at a cost of $25
  • Square Tower House – this 1 mile hike takes a couple of hours and is available between the end of May to mid June, and again between the beginning of September and the beginning of October on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 8am, at a cost of $25
  • Wetherill Mesa Experience – this is a 4 hour, 4 mile hike which takes place from early in September until early in October on Wednesdays and Sundays at 10am for just $15 per person.

Camping at Mesa Verde National Park

Morefield Campground in Mesa Verde National Park is open from mid May until mid October, and is easy to find just 4 miles inside the park. You can make reservations to stay at this popular campsite.

  • 267 camping sites – plenty of room for everybody and it rarely gets full

  • 15 RV hook up sites (reservations required)
  • The starting point of many of the best hikes in Mesa Verde National Park
  • $24 per night plus $2 surcharge for energy and tax for each dry campsite per 2 people
  • Each site suitable for maximum two tents and two vehicles.
From mid October until early in November the campground is available for primitive camping, at a price of just $20 per night.
