Capitol Reef National Park Images & Videos

Capitol Reef National Park was established to protect a monocline (a mono what???) a monocline, to you and me, it’s 100-year old wrinkle, (now you’re talking) not on the face of the earth, but in it’s crust. This Waterpocket Fold is, to you and me, Capitol Reef National Park, 378 glorious square miles of ridges, canyons, monoliths and buttes, all in glorious color.

Capitol Reef National Park is sometimes affected by flash floods – don’t worry, it doesn’t happen all of the time, but did you know that as little as 1/4″ of rainfall can produce flash floods. These generally happen in the thunderstorm season – July through to September – even though humidity is relatively low throughout the year. It can get pretty hot during the summer months, so be prepared.

Hey, where’s the plumbing?? Some people do really like to get away from it all don’t they, and who can blame them?
