Directions to Haleakala National Park
Haleakala National Park stretches all the way from summit of Haleakala (at 10,023 feet), to the coastal area close to Hana on the southeastern base of the mountain. There’s no road to connect the two separate sections of the Haleakala National Park, but if you head to Kahului you can access them both.
There isn’t any public transport running either to the park, or inside the park.
Driver Warning for Visitors to Haleakala National Park
Make sure that you have plenty of gas before entering the park, because once you’re in there you won’t find any gas stations. The final place available for gas before entering the park on the way to the summit area is in Pukalani, and if you’re heading towards the Kipahulu area you can get gas along the Hana Highway in the town of Pa’ia.
Directions to the Summit Area of Haleakala National Park
To drive to the summit (10.023 feet) and the park headquarters head out from Kahului on Route 37, then 377, then 378. It’ll take you around an hour and a half to drive from Kahului to the summit.
Directions to the Coastal Area of Kipahulu
To visit Kipahulu you need to drive Route 36 to 360 to 31. It’ll take around 3 hours to reach Kipahulu from Kahului.
