Mesa Verde National Park is located in Colorado, southwestern Colorado. The easiest way to get there is by car, and realistically speaking you’re gonna’ need a car when you get there anyway just to get around and see this fabulous place. The first cliff dwelling you can see (I know you won’t be able to wait) is around 21 miles further on from the entrance, it’ll take you around 45 minutes of driving time on a narrow, steep, winding road, be patient and prepare for a feast before your eyes.
Driving to Mesa Verde National Park
The headquarters to Mesa Verde National Park are around an hours drive from the town of Cortez, in Colorado if you’re heading east along Hwy 160, or and hour and a half from Durango, Colorado, if you’re heading west along Hwy 160, that’s where you’ll find the turn off to Mesa Verde National Park.

The closest airports to Mesa Verde National Park are in Cortez, Colorado, Durango, Colorado or Farmington which is in New Mexico. Remember that you’ll need to hire a rental car at the airport.
Public Transport to Mesa Verde National Park
The closest bus station to this wonderful park is at Durango in Colorado, but from there you’ll have to hire a rental car for the last 35 miles drive to the park entrance.
